Congratulations :-)

Does that mean you are a barrister now? :)

I still have to pass character and fitness, but my record is clean and I have nothing to hide. Anyway, woohoo!

Oh boy, another athiest jewish lesbian lawyer.

Please break the stereotype, and if you do any pro-bono, stand up for PRIVATE property or gun rights. Help defend someone who is being sued because some dumb ass crook tripped while stealing their TV. Help some poor guy who is facing bogus DV charges because his wife heard it would help her screw him in the divorce. Help someone who defended him/herself and ran afoul of some DA who thinks victims shouldn't confuse the issue by fighting back.

Otherwise, congrats. I hope you will be part of the solution, not the problem.

Mr. Smarterthanyou:

LOL, you do realize I am a fag hag (ie, friend to gays), not a lesbian. I never said I was a lesbian.

Hey MrSmarterthanyou, are you 7 years old. Cos that the kind of silly insult i'd expect a 7 year old to use.

Anyway WooHoo that Red passed :-)

Mr. Smarterthanyou said...

Sorry, Never heard fag hag before.
It had kind of suprised me when I actually read that part, because you didn't set off my "gaydar".

Red Tulips said...

Mr. Smarterthanyou:

That being said, given I am friendly to gay people, I don't consider being gay to be an insult. I am just amused you thought I was gay.

I also happen to stand against emiment domain unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, and I stand with the second amendment.

But sure, I am a stereotypical Atheist Jewish American fag hag lawyer. I embrace my stereotype!

Mr. Smarterthanyou> Now if you were really "smarterthanyou", you wouldn't make such goofs.

Red Tulips> woohoo!! ::big giant air supply-squelching hugs:: You did it and now you're a full-fledged lawyer..::hears ambulance:: wait..come back, why are you running? :)

Congratulations! May you litigate for social causes :-)

Thanks for all your well wishes!

I actually am a social liberal, so we'll see!

Congratulations lady. Now go get 'em. But what's this about "character and fitness?" You seem fit to be a character. :)

Mr. Smarterthanyou said...

I dunno, if you support property rights and gun rights, you aren't completely typical of the jewish left.

Red Tulips said...

Mr. Smarterthanyou:

Quit stereotyping Jewish people. Jewish people think many things and are hardly a monolith.

Mr. Smarterthanyou said...

87% of self-identified jews voted democrat in this last election.

That's pretty darn monolithic. If 87% of a population make a certain choice or behave a certain way, then the stereotype is valid, and even useful. Saying otherwise is like walking in Gaza wearing a thong bikini and a star of david necklace just because you don't want to stereotype palistinians as woman hating, jew hating rapists. Refusing to recognize that group-think exists, or that stereotypes usually start for a good reason is putting your head in the sand. It is part of the PC midset that is killing Europe, making race and other relations in the US difficult, and is making us vulnerable.

I would reasonably assume that even more of the "jewish-left" are pro gun control, and support using the EPA and zoning laws to limit private property rights. After all, left leans into socialism pretty quick, and socialism is an enemy of private property.

Mr. Smarterthanyou:

The Democratic party is hardly a monolith, itself. Many Democrats think many things.

I will say this - statistically more Jews are liberal than the general population.

But to say 'Jewish left' ignores the fact that Jews are hardly the majority of leftists.

Statistically, Black people vote Democrat at a rate of 90%+. And yet you say JEWISH left, as if castigating those who are leftists as necessarily Jewish.

If you are Jewish, you may or may not be a leftist, and if you are a leftist, you may or may not be Jewish.

Mr. Smarterthanyou said...

But if you are a jew, who happens to be a leftist, then you are in the group called "jewish left".

If you are black, and part of the greater than 90% that is leftist, then you are part of the "black left".

Either way, one can accurately predict that if you find yourself in a room full of only jews, chances are any concensus that forms will be overwhelmingly liberal, anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-welfare, pro gay marriage, pro-gay foster family, pro- "tax the rich", anti-military, pro-feminist.

Anyone who would enter such a room not knowing this is an idiot, or from Outer Mongolia (even Inner Mongolia has the Internet). Unless it was a meeting of Jews for the preservation of firearms rights, that is.

Anyone who would know this, but pretend not to for sake of being "PC" or "non-judgemental" has a mental illness or is just a lier who somehow thinks that conforming to liberal groupthink is a good thing and worth it. The latter puts them in the exact same basket as those who supported Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution. To me, this demostrates that if PC isn't inherently evil, it sure makes evil easy.

Mr. Smarterthanyou:

You know what? A majority of Jews do think that way. GOOD. Most of those views are pro-tolerance and views I wish more people would have.

Personally, I believe NYC goes overboard with its gun laws, but there do need to be some gun control laws.

The rich should pay more as a percentage of their earnings - they have more to pay!

I am not anti-military, but it is not 'liberal' to be anti-military, it is unAmerican.

Abortion - check, freedom of choice

Gay marriage - check, no reason why gays cannot enjoy equal rights

Gay adoption - check, no reason why gay people are per se worse parents.

Welfare - some amount is needed to help those beset by circumstances beyond their control, but this needs to be curbed with a time limit - as it is!

Not all Jews think this way, but to the extent that a majority do, I am happy to call myself Jewish.

Mr. Smarterthanyou said...

Whether you agree with those points or not, the fact remains that the stereotype is generally true and useful to predict behavior.

It isn't just the majority, it is the overwhelming majority.

BTW, this link here would start a very good thread, someone posted it on Big Pharaoh:

It shows what can happen when Christianity and Christian values are marginalized/removed from public life. Reading between the lines, it helps explain how people born in civilized nations can become radicalized, just by seeking SOMETHING to make them feel good about themselves. It also shows how successful Norwegian feminists have been at turning boys/men into complete wussies.
