Obsession: the movie

I saw the film Obsession on Monday night, and while I didn't learn anything new, it really pieced together disparate elements of Islamofacism into a coherent whole. Essential viewing. Afterwards, I asked Jeff Gaffney, Founder and President of the Center for Security Policy and author of War Footing, "Mr. Gaffney, I am a civil libertarian. How does one maintain the American way of life and essential civil liberties while fighting these bastards? Because I know they are using our civil liberties against us." His response was something I never thought of before. He said "I too value civil liberties, and that is why I advocate the Patriot Act. Because if there is another attack on American soil, there will be even MORE civil liberties taken away, and hence the Patriot Act, as a weapon against the Islamofacists, safeguards civil liberties." I happen to disagree with this. I think there are key provisions of the Patriot Act that are simply not necessary to fight terror. But as an overall point, he makes some sense. (Non existent) God forbid there is another attack on American soil, and it's open season on our civil liberties. In any case, you all should try and see this movie if you can.

I saw the movie too on Monday. Although I read alot about the Islamofascist threat, the movie still had an impact. We need to get motivated, but it is not clear what to do.

You saw the movie on Monday? This means we were in the same theater and didn't know it! Very funny!
