I think I would prefer sidebar to have a different background. As it is it seems to blend in with the main text.

Much better. One of my biggest turn offs in the blogoshere are those who use a black background.
I don't like highlighting what I want to read. A white background is so much better.
I find many Atheists think it is cool to have the black background. It is just silly.
