Recipe swap

Again, because I have been sick of politics lately (same old bull caca), I figured I would write a post that has as little to do with politics as possible. What's your favorite recipe or food? As far as I go, my signature dish is an angel hair pasta covered with sauteed onions, garlic, portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes, fresh basil, and balsamic vinegar, tossed with fresh mozzarella and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. (freshly crushed black pepper to taste) I also have recently become known for a dish I found on Giada DeLaurentis's show on Food Network. The recipe is super easy, and called a Cornbread Panzanella Salad. See the recipe here. I love Paula Deen's European Adventure, where she goes to a French bakery and asks them to make their food with extra butter. She also goes to Harrod's, sees blood pudding, and asks the person at the food counter why people eat blood pudding when they could eat bread pudding, lol.

I have a few things I make often.

One recipe I use often is something I came up with on my own, using Orzo pasta.

Here's a rough sketch since I never write down measurements, I have it all in my memory.

Essentially, you boil the Orzo, base measurements on how much you want to make, and when it softens (orzo sometimes takes a while), drain the water from the pot. Add lots of Alfredo sauce, cracked black pepper, basil leaves, and olive oil. Mix it all together and bring the Alfredo sauce to a boil for a few seconds while continuously stirring.

If you do it right, the orzo absords all the flavor of the sauce, pepper, basil, and oil. Serve it in a bowl, drizzle some olive oil on it, and grate some parmesan over it if you're feeling very confident you won't have heart problems one day.

""Again, because I have been sick of politics lately""

Me too. I feel so disenchanted and just want to withdraw from the world entirely because of it. I wish there was something we could do about how divided and angry everything is right now.

Toad in the hole.

All you need is several sausages (cook them beforehand, speeds up the cooking of the next part of my favourite staple dish).
Then get yourself some good yorkshire pudding batter and follow the instructions for cooking it in the oven. Pour yorkshire pudding batter into an oil lined baking dish, then add the sausages. Make sure everything is piping hot and cooked. And don't open the oven door too soon otherwise you'll make your yorkshire pudding batter will not rise properly.

Once it's cooked place it on a plate with lashings of gravy.
Those instructions are probably wrong at some point, but thats what i've gleaned from my mums cooking.

Or alternatively cook some baked beans and some toast and you have the best (and farttastic) snack in the world and one which you should'nt burn unless you're adding cheese to the beans and the toast starts to turn a lovely charcoal colour.

My cooking skills are rubbish, but i'll attempt to cook stuff if i'm starving and my mum is refusing to cook anything because nobody does any house work for her.

I can cook, but I generally am lazy and don't, hehehe.

Sounds interesting! I love it when you discuss British cuisine, of course most notably blood pudding and haggis.

Paula Dean!!??? :P
MY God, I’ve never seen more fattening food than hers. I heard her say once when she was asked if she wanted soup,” Do you think I am sick?”
