Clarification re: Rachel Corrie

I figure I owe you all a clarification on Rachel Corrie. There is a reason I hold a particular venom for this human being. This reason is that she chose hate. Rachel was not brainwashed from age 0 onwards to be a suicide bomber. She grew up in the relative lap of luxury in Washington State, and chose to aid and abet Hamas operatives, via the ISM. This was her choice. She chose to give up her life to protect a home with weapons and drugs inside: again her choice. She chose to burn an American flag at a Hamas rally, and showed exactly where she stands. Israelly Cool summed up the real life story of Rachel Corrie right here. When someone turns their back on their country in order to support suicide bombers, I view it as an abomination. As a perfect example, I despise Adam Gadahn more than, say, your average suicide bomber. Adam Gadahn chose hate, and chose to turn his back on his country and his people. He is a traitor to his country. As a corollary, I despise the Kapos in many ways more than the Nazis. And so yes, I hold a special disdain for the Rachel Corries of the world. I have no time to mourn the death of a terror supporter when thousands of people are killed every day. If that sounds harsh, so be it. There are millions of people in the world who do deserve my sympathy. Rachel Corrie is not one of them, and no, I am not sad she is dead. I certainly did not celebrate when she died, but I also am not sad that she is dead. Rather, I mourn the loss of her mind when she was alive and brainwashed. I mourn the loss of the minds of hundreds of thousands of other Rachel Corries from around the world. She was certainly not an important figure in the world when she was alive, but she has been martyred at her death, and that is what makes me flat out angry. If this shows I 'lack compassion,' then so be it. I have no compassion for those who aid and abet terrorists. Ms. Corrie did her small part to make the world a worse place to live, and the most tragic part about it is that she died as a true believer for a false cause. I hope that clears things up. You may now go back to discussing recipes!

Good riddance to that America-hater.

She can join the pantheon of the Paleo gods like Saddam, Arafat, Hitler & Co.

I agree! I hope she's happy where she ended up but, my guess is it isn't what she had in mind.

I find it depressing that anyone from America would turn in to somoene like this. I don't even know what to think of it.

I think I've figured out why some naive young anarchist types are so enamored with the Palestinians, but I still have no clue what makes someone do this, since this is a much larger leap from that.

It freaks me out to no end. Fortunately, the number of people who have done it is still pretty low. I've only ever heard about a handful.

And rightwing, there's no hell for anyone to go to.

As I recall the college Rachel Corrie attended (Hillsdale, I think)encouraged their students toward social activism, so I think they bear some responsibility for pushing her to take sides in the Israel/Palestinian Arab War.

It was Evergreen State College.

Agreed with Jason, btw - I do not believe there is a hell her to go to. Her life ended and she will go into the vortex of nothingness, mirroring the achievements of her 'advocacy': nothing.

Promoting advocacy does nothing to lead people to something like this, since theres a LOT of people urged towards advocacy who don't even get involved with advocating anything remotely controversial.

I still can't think of what could make someone become like this.

There are, you know, many reasonable defenses of Ms. Corrie.

For example, here's an entire organization that defends her with clarity, lucidity, and morality:

"Jewish sponsored atrocities are regularly carried out with American supplied equipment and weapons. The US government is an active partner with Israeli in their genocidal crimes against humanity. No wonder the Arabs hate America and want to destroy us. Rachel took a stand against zionist terror and we admire her activism."

Jason> No Hell? You've never been to central Texas, have you ;)

Felix> It was in College where I cringed whenever I heard the word social justice.

Red Tulips> Also, there are many that remember Rachel Corrie with pancakes :) ...actually I had an English teacher in HS who believed the afterlife was how you are remembered.

I cringe when I hear the name Rachel Corrie.

The fact that her name is so popular runs completely opposite with the idea that Jooooos control the media.

Check these out.

Its also easy for a person to begin hating Israel if they only hear a completely one sided description of the situation. Combine that with the face of major Israel supporters being the right wing, and that makes it hard to turn an anti-israel person to a more moderate position.

My position is still this; I look forward to the day we no longer need so much middle eastern oil, so we don't have to have ANY interests in the condition of the region.

As a white male who liked pootie tang..., oh wait, only idiots show up just to advertise their blog. Anyway, I totally support your opinion of RC, and I think it was your pretty darn coverage of her lunacy that got me to infest (ha) your blog. Idiots who stand in front of bulldozers that are operating on national security projects deserve the same fate as idiots who throw bricks at cops-buried. At least with a bulldozer, you can cut out the middleman.

For those of you eager to correct right-wing, try to show tolorance and respect for other's points of view. You don't need to start a theological argument whenever someone mentions a religious thought.

Let me quote you: As a white male who liked pootie tang...

Did C4A gayify you? Have you decided you now bat for the other team?

I forgot to add...

Gay person of color:

Welcome to C4A! I will check out your blog when I have the chance to, tomorrow.

BEAJ:

Thanks for the links! And yes, I too cringe when I see her name.

Jason:

Agreed about Israel, and it's a shame, because when you think about it, supporting Israel is a liberal cause. Lest we forget, Israel is a largely socialist state which affords real human rights to its citizens (including gay marriage!). The fact that it is despised by leftists is, at its core, due to both anti-semitism and simple hatred of the West.

I think that, in the minds of many on the left, Muslims, Islam, Palestine, and the Middle East, are the ULTIMATE liberal causes. Even if other liberal causes end up conflicting with this ultimate liberal issue, the other cause is automatically overridden.

The irony is that fascists fight for exactly the same causes. They are very supportive of Iran/Palestine et al. Check out these guys for example:

http://www.nationalvanguard.org/

Nowadays without knowing whose site it is I can't tell whether it's Daily Pussy, National Vanguard or an Islamist Blog.

There is one thing they all have in common...

Fascists are leftists too. I dunno why they get called the far right.

And I guess I better slow down on my typing.
