Hyderabad police lodge case against Taslima Nasreen

The following article details how Hyderabad police are lodging a complaint against Taslima Nasreen for 'hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims.' It should be recalled that she was the one who faced riots against her, and was personally beaten when she spoke in Hyderabad. Her personal safety was only assured after Hindu journalists formed a wall around the Muslim rioters, and allowed her to have a police escort out of the facility. She is a Bangladeshi ex-Muslim feminist who speaks out in favor of human rights, and for that was kicked out of Bangladesh. She is seeking refuge in India, and now it seems her country of refuge is making it quite difficult for her to live there.

You might wonder how this is all possible. The answer is that it is a crime to insult Muhammad in India. According to my understanding, it is also a crime to insult Krishna and Buddha, etc. Does anyone know how this law came about, and if there is an equality of enforcement of these blasphemy laws? As far as I see it, blasphemy should not be a crime, regardless of which religion is insulted, due to the far reaching free speech implications. But then again, I have grown to prize the First Amendment.

Considering she left Islam and is now facing threats in India this is trully a brave woman. It's going to take many more activists and individuals of her moral fibre, however to bring about any kind of concreet change in the Muslim world, not even mentioning the Hindu and Buddhist one.

Thank the Lord for the First Amendment (followed by the Second for good reason).

It's amazing to me, how the muslims will always demand that their rights to say and do whatever they want, but will have no problem at all in taking those same rights away from someone else.

And they never see the irony in it.

Its not a crime in india to insult Krishna, Ramma or any other Prophet/incarnation... Indian Educational books tells that Ramma, krishna were only fairy tails... thus completly ignoring not only the archeological facts, but also the basic roots of vedic civilization...

Christians should not feel proud, as libels against Christians are also already drafted in books,.. thanks to rulling Indian left groups...

Sikh perhaps face the largest level of blasphemy, as Indian educational books further add, "Guru Govind singh was a bandit and criminal".. certainly because he allowed Sikhs to take weapon in hands, when Aurangzeb was slaughtering Sikhs and Hindus....

for those who are not aware, then let me also add, that the horrible massacre that Aurangzeb started on Infidels is todays Jihad, only you need to search a bit about the professors of "Al wahhab" (founder of wahabi Islam)... you will reach Missionaries sent by Auragzeb to holy cities (of Islam).. and you will find how al-Wahab was indocrinated by them to such extreme, that even Prophets mosque in medina had to send al wahab to exile, banning his entry to mecca as well as to medina...

now back to democratic rule, it is always applicable only for Muslims, like Bible in toilet is a art, but koran, if even touched by non-Muslims becomes a hate crime? the same extension in india was applied in taslima..
